An Australian Friend!

A few weeks ago we had a somebody here for a visit. He is from Australia. His name is Leon. We’ve known Leon over the internet for almost for 15 years now. He was a member of the forum that Bob created over the internet. When we moved here in the Philippines 7 years ago Bob and Leon still e-mailing each other. One thing his been e-mailing Bob is how the dental work here and the cost in the Philippines? Bob told him that it’s cheap and the quality of the job is good too. So he was searching on the internet and found some sites that cater to foreigners. So he asked Bob if we know some dentist here in Davao? Bob told him that we know of a good dentist that we can recommend she’s the dentist of our whole family. So he asked Bob if he could get a hold of our dentist because he wants to send her the x-ray of his teeth so that she could gave him the estimate of how much would he will be spending. So when the dentist got his x-ray she told him how much. He was shocked because it’s just one tenth of the cost in Australia. So he came here and have his teeth done. He stayed here for 3 weeks. So Leon was very happy with the result of the dental work here. He told us he can now smile again.

We took him to Bukidnon to see our Italian friend Fr. Franco. Just like us he also likes Fr. Franco a lot. He also tastes some of the liquor creation of Father Franco. Father called it the LBC, really its LAUREL, BASIL, & CINNAMON. Wow that was really strong even just the smell of it. Father also talked to him about living in Bukidnon, he could tell that Leon likes the place.

We also took him to see our other new friends that has a farm in Bukidnon. Wow that place is really something. Just by looking at the side of the mountain you could not tell that their’s a hidden paradise at the other side of it. It’s really a peaceful place. I told Bob I could retire there someday. I love Samal, but that place is amazingly peaceful and quiet.

Anyway, to Leon thank you so much for visiting here to see us too. We really enjoyed having you over. We really like your friend Flor too. She texted me yesterday. Hope you will visit us again soon.

Granny’s coming again for a visit!

Our kids are getting excited over the coming visit of my mother-in-law. She’s coming here next month. The kids are already counting the days. She’s going to stay here for 2 months. She’s attending the birthday party of our 2 kids in September. Wow, Aaron and Jean jean are super excited already. She’s here during Christmas of last year. What a great Christmas too with the kids because they spent lots of time bonding with Granny.

My mother-in-law, she’s also getting excited to come here because she likes to eat lots of our fruits here. She loves rambutan especially. She like to drink calamansi juice and mango shake. One thing she likes here too is the pork liempo. You know what? We told her to just stay here in the Philippines for good since she likes it so much here anyway. She told us that she’s really considering in moving here due to Bob and I can’t be with her in the States if ever she gets ill or something. As you guys know we have 4 kids to take care of. If ever she decides to live here later at least we could have somebody help us take care of her and it’s cheap too. Her other son can’t take care of her there because they are too busy with their lives. Nothing against that, that’s just the way you live your life there. Everybody’s busy.

Anyway, I hope that still a long ways for us to worry about. We love her dearly.

Heartache

Today I was shocked what my neice decided to do with her life. When she was just a baby my parents took care of her. When we moved here to lived we got her to lived with us and we then sent her to a very nice school. Well, when she moved out last year and stayed with a classmate. The brother of the classmate got her pregnant. Well it was a shocked to us that when she came back to see us she had baby already. Bob and I gave her second chance, we let her worked at our business and we are also babysitting the child. We told her to save up the money that we paid her from working with us so that in a year or so she can go back to school and finish up her nursing degree. We even offer to help her take care of the baby. Few days ago Bob offered her to let her work more hours so that she could earn more. Yesterday she e-mailed Bob and told him that she is not interested to work anymore. She was upset that we told her that she should work extra hard now to support the baby if she wants to give the baby good life. I think she was just shock why we are not giving her or sending her back to school like before. My goodness she really defy us before when we told her to stay in school and study, instead she went out and party and got drunk. She would tell us that she went to her classmates house to work on their projects, we believed on what she told us. We never thought that she could do what she did, drinking and lying to us. Now she still expects us to just hand her the money for her to go back to school now! Not gonna happen. I really thought she has learned her lessons when she moves out before, I guess not. We felt she’s still immature.

All of us here felt sorry for the baby. My neice just doesn’t know yet how to take care of the baby. Could be she’s just too lazy. Honestly we hope that the father of the baby will let my neice go back to school so that when she finish up her degree she will have a good job. We haven’t meet him yet because he is too chicken to come and see us. My heart ached for the baby, but I can’t be responsible for her. My neice is already old enough to know what she was doing. She needs to learn her lesson that we are not gonna be her wallet anymore. She just used us to get ahead and not even thankfull of what we did for her.

Eating out with friends

Few days ago Bob, myself, John, Steve and their friend Harold meet up to have dinner. We decided to eat dinner at the Mediterranean Cafe at Chimes Mall in Governor Sales Street. It is really a good restaurant. We ordered some gyro llamb sandwich in peta bread. It was delicious. When we ordered we told the waiter that the gyro we want it to be our appetizer so we wanted him to bring that first. It didn’t happen he brought our main course first instead. I even told him in bisaya. I told him too that we want our drinks right away and he answered me back okay, but still it didn’t happened. All of us just sit there and stir at each other and smile about it. We didn’t complain or anything we just tried to figure it out why he didn’t listened what we say to him. We all ageed that maybe he just so nervous having few foreigner he has to served in our table. I even talked to him in bisaya so that he would be more comfortable. I felt sorry for the guy he just panicked. Some of the waiter are doing just fine. Maybe our waiter was just new.

That place really had good foods. They had lots of customer there. I want to go back there soon and try some of the other foods. I would really recommend to everyone to go and try that place. You would not be sorry you went there. Have agood eat there guys.
