Scams abound!

I was just browsing through my FB news feed and saw the wall of my dear friend Sharon. Just reading what’s on her wall got me thinking. I’ve receive too many junk text too, mostly I don’t even read it I just deleted it automatically. It’s so annoying to received almost half a dozen text or more in a day. Sometimes you’re busy working on something then when you hear your phone beeping telling you that you got text and when you checked it’s just another one of those junk. Geez, you really want to scream. LOL

This is nothing but a scam!

This is nothing but a scam!

Anyway the message on my friend’s wall that she posted to the right said: As you can read on the big and bold writing. The  problem if you reply to the number that was given. Then you are sending the person the load that they are asking. See here in the Philippines you can call anybody with your cell phone just using a pre-paid sim-card. What that means, you will buy a cell phone and buy the sim-card (either SUN Cellular, GLOBE, SMART, TALK “N” Text) separately. Every cell phone provider had their own promotional ad to lure the customers. Like us in our household, we all have Sun sim pack because they had a good deal right now. For Php 150, you can text unlimited for the whole month with 4 hours call to the other  Sun cellular number. If you pay Php 200, you will get the same promo plus you have 1000 free text to the other network provider. If you pay Php 450, you can call and text unlimited to the other Sun cellular number plus free 50 text to other network provider.

Lets move on to the text at right: Wonder why it’s a scam? Well if you follow what the text were saying, you are giving that person a load worth Php 300 pesos out from your load or your pocket. If you are on the post paid account and if someone texted you and said what it says below to text the 300 to the number that they gave you. Then you’re giving.  You see, if you do nothing, you have actually lost nothing, it is all a lie.  If you follow the instructions in the text, then you are helping the scammer steak P300 from you!  See that big writing that says: Txt 300 8888 Send to 29771907587

The 300 pesos load goes to the number like that one sample they have. The way we know its passing load or they called it here pasa load because of the text 300 and the 8888 was the code for passing the load.  Plus the number 2 in the beginning of the cell phone number means that’s passing of the load. Regular beginning number of the cell phone number should begins with 0 or +63.

Too many scams going on the cell phone right now. Some they even says that they got transferred to other place or they got accidents and they want you to give them load. Some scam even text you in Tagalog. If you don’t know what the text meant have someone interpret for you. It’s better to know what the context of the text than assuming it.

Anyway, beware of the scumbag again. Don’t fall for it.

Cheers!

Conversation that I heard!

It’s really nice now that we decided to ride jeepneys in going anywhere here in the city area. On one of our jeepney routes, me and my niece overheard a very interesting conversation of 2 old friends. One of the ladies might be in her mid 50′s and the other one might be a little younger than me. I am just estimating their ages. The route was a bit longer because of the traffic accident. So even with the traffic I was not agitated because of the delay, just thankful of the interesting conversation I’ve heard inside the jeepney. As the minutes went on, their conversations got intense. Both of them shared each other stories about their friends or close friends  rendezvous. I will share their conversation here, some readers here might know of similar stories happens to their friends or relatives. Feel free to share here. I will make 2 post from the lady’s chitchat.

Overheard on the Jeepney

Overheard on the Jeepney

As I gathered with their conversation, both ladies used to be neighbors. They were just in that jeepney together accidentally. When the older lady converse about the wedding of I think her close family member. She was asked to be the godmother (ninang) of the couples to be. She was happy to do it. She was even helping the couple in the wedding preparation. Just by listening I could tell that the wedding was a success. The godmother said that the guy, a foreigner from the States, was a bit older than the lady. I guess the guy had money and was getting a big pension. As I was hearing the conversation, the bride was a lavish spender. Bought stuff that’s not even necessary. They had a really nice wedding. Which was understandable since she was just married once, so why not have a fancy wedding? She bought stuff for their house and of course the typical thing partied almost every night, drinking beer and liquor.

The guy wants to live here in the Philippines because he has the money to live here comfortably. The lady really insisted before the wedding that they had to live in America. So the guy agreed to the wishes of the girl because he really loved the girl so much. Thinking about it, it might also good for the lady to live in the States for a few years for her to learn American culture  and that she will get her US citizenship and after that they will settle back here in the Philippines for good.

Well, after the wedding when they should have the honeymoon somewhere. The girl postponed it and said that she’s not up to it going somewhere, because she was really exhausted with the prep of the wedding. So she just wants to go to the hotel and sleep. The godmother saw the reason for her not going with the honeymoon somewhere. The bride already had an affair with her ex two days after the wedding. Instead of spending time with her husband she was in bed with her ex. The husband was alone in his hotel room. He thinks his wife spends time with her parents. That really shocked the people that saw  her and the ex especially the godmother.

So the godmother was fuming. She told the bride to end the relationship with the ex or she will tell the husband immediately, she said not tomorrow, its going to be today. She told the bride that if she ever do that again that she will never want to get involve with the family because she will never tolerate that kind of behavior. She also added that from now on she will monitor the bride and if theirs something she notice that’s not appropriate to the marriage, she will tell the husband and the church.  Hmm. Shocking.. It worked though, because she said the bride really straighten up and behave like a wife after their talk. Just by listening I was hoping too for the happy ending of the new couple.

So I guess you better get godparents that are really close to the family. At the end it will help out both husband and wife. I’m just glad that the godmother really stood her ground and gave her piece to the new bride. I think the parents were also giving advice to the bride to stick with the husband because not just he had the money but also they could tell that the husband will be there for their daughter until the end. They know that the ex will just be there while he can dig in money from their daughter. Plus morally they know that their daughter was already married. They bride was still processing her papers to go to the States. Hoping for the best for the husband and wife while living in the States. Good luck to them.

Watch out next week for the other story. If the story rings a bell to you feel free to comment. Have a great day!!!

Strange phone call

Yesterday I got a phone call while cooking breakfast for Bob.

It was really early in the morning.  It was just me and Bob who were up. I thought it was an inquiry from the email about some land. I thought it was an overseas call because it was too early for people from here. The call was on my cell phone.

When I said hello, there was a lady asking me who I was? I told her you’re the one that’s calling me, I continue on saying may I know whose on the line please?

Then she asked me do you know Mr. so and so? I was trying to think and tried to remember the name, I told her I vaguely remember the name. I said why? She then said because you’re name is on his skype.

Ah what?

I asked her more if her man emailed me on LiP or about travel in Mindanao or Davao or about Samal? She can’t even answer me.

Hello, who are you?

Hello, who are you?

I was gonna tell her hmm, that’s strange because the only person that knows my skype is Bob. I never gave my skype account to anybody since I never use it. Why would I need skype we have Vonage? We just cut off our Vonage  not that long ago. I had another option too if I don’t used vonage my pc was hooked to Bob’s skype account anyway. I like to use Vonage because I can just dial just like a regular phone line. When we didn’t have the vVonage I never used the skype on my pc.

Anyway, I think she saw my number on her husband or boyfriend’s pc or cell phone and tried to dial my number to make sure I’m not the second lady in line.

Holy molly, I don’t really need a jealous wife/girlfriend calling me. Early in the morning it already ruined my day. My goodness by the sound of her voice she’s way younger than me. She should have the confidence with her man not to stray away with other women. I don’t even remember if I communicated with her partner/husband. Geez, I wonder if he inquired from me a condo, a house or a land. I have to dig in through all my emails again.

Living here for over 10 years now, I’ve experienced a lot, I’ve meet too many ladies I thought that could be my friend. But they later tell their boyfriend/husband that they can’t hang out with me because of our age difference. They just don’t want it, their reason I am too old to be their friend they say. I just laugh it off because if they say I am too old for them to be their friend, but look whose talking, their boyfriend or husband is 20 years older than I am! I never had anything against any ladies that were married to older men. A lot of my friends in the States before that I hang out with they were married to older men and we don’t have any problem. But my goodness if they are talking bad about our age difference to be my friend I find it to be odd. I’m not sure if I am too boring for them, I don’t go out during night time. For me and Bob, that’s the time we spent with our kids. See we just like to go out meet people around lunch time. Maybe some of the ladies  might still be in bed though. Maybe we are on different time zone. ha ha ha.  :-). One thing with me and Bob’s relationship – we trust each other. Well, we would not be married this long if we did not. He can go anywhere without me. I can go anywhere without him. I don’t have to have someone to be with him, same for me. Lots of friends that I know they will have their brother or cousins to guard their husband. Oh well to each his own I guess.

Honestly a friend of ours told me before that his girlfriend, who was really young, in her teens. She confess to our friend that I was a threat. I really speak my mind and I can communicate well. She really had problem with me because her man asked advice from me about money matters. Her boyfriend just didn’t trust her when it comes to money. Of course she’s too young to know how to handle money. All she wants is spent it. She didn’t even knows how much her boyfriend was worth but Bob and I knew. Same stories with our other friends. The lists goes on and on.

Cheers!
